Professional career
Degree in Medicine and Surgery and PhD in Medicine from the University of Navarra, he completed his residency in Radiology at Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
He completed his training in cardiothoracic imaging at internationally renowned hospitals such as Klinikum Grosshadern and St. Johannes Hospital in Germany, and Royal Brompton Hospital in London.
He subsequently completed a cardiovascular research fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. He worked in the thoracic radiology section and served as director of the Cardiac Imaging Unit at Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
After being appointed Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, he has served as head of the Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) section in the cardiothoracic imaging unit of the medical imaging department at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, Canada.
He is currently Co-Director of the Radiology Service at Clínica Universidad de Navarra and Full Professor at the University of Navarra.

- Has participated in numerous research studies, serving as principal investigator in projects awarded through national and international competitive calls.

- His main areas of interest are non-invasive cardiac imaging and thoracic radiology.

- Full Professor at the University of Navarra.
- Holds the Cardiac Radiology Diploma from the European Society of Cardiac Radiology.
In research
- Author of more than 270 communications at national and international conferences, over 185 scientific articles, and 12 book chapters. He is editor or co-editor of 3 cardiac imaging books and director of 3 training master's programs.
- He has delivered over 170 invited lectures and participated in numerous round tables at specialty conferences.
