Hematology and Hemotherapy
The close relationship between the Cima and the Clinic allows patients to benefit from new scientific advances, facilitating excellence in patient care and research.
The Clinic's Hematology Service, composed of specialists of renowned national and international prestige, has integrated molecular diagnostic techniques and the use of new personalised treatments in its care activity, allowing a more precise and rapid diagnosis of haematological diseases.
The joint work of the medical and research personnel facilitates the development and application of the new treatments and, at the same time, the precise evaluation of the result of the treatments.
We are experts in the development of treatments based on the use of Cellular Therapy and those that include the transplantation of hemapoietic progenitors, adoptive cellular immunotherapies such as CAR-T cells, dendritic cell vaccines, or activated lymphocytes for the treatment of infections. These treatments are developed jointly with the Cellular Therapy Area.
Currently, the Hematology Service has received accreditation for the administration of CAR-T drugs approved by the Spanish and European regulatory agencies (Kymriah, INN-tisagenlecleucel, Yescarta, INN-axicabtagene ciloleucel and Tecartus) and is in the process of accrediting the new CAR-T drugs for the treatment of multiple myeloma.
In addition, the Advanced Therapies Unit of the Hematology Service and Cell Therapy Area has been accredited according to FACT-JACIE international standards for the performance of hematopoietic progenitor transplantation (HPT) in adults; and the collection, processing and administration of hematopoietic cell therapy products and immunoeffector cells.
Having led some of the clinical trials that have enabled the approval of new drugs such as daratumumab, we are an international reference centre in the field of lymphomas, myeloid neoplasms and, in particular, myelomas and monoclonal gammapathies.
We are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of haemorrhagic and thrombotic problems, using molecular diagnostic tools to study thrombophilic states and the application of new oral anticoagulants, as well as a personalised approach to patients with thrombosis and cancer.
