Practice Development

Nursing Practice Model

It is a model that allows a practice environment that makes the participation of nurses in patient and family care more visible, places them in a position to transform the institution through excellent practice and personal leadership, and encourages them to work according to their capabilities and competencies, thus achieving better clinical outcomes.

Characteristics of our practice model

Excellence in patient care

The Clinic has always shown a commitment to the development of good nursing practice and a concern for developing nursing excellence.

Nursing focuses its caregiving role on caring and supporting the patient.

Recognition of the value of compassionate care implies exercising our work with excellence and a spirit of service.

Magnet Accreditation

Clínica Universidad de Navarra opts for Magnet accreditation and begins the journey to become a Magnet Hospital.

In 2024 the Clínica Universidad de Navarra sent the documentation to apply for Magnet accreditation. This will make CUN the first healthcare institution in Spain to apply for accreditation and, if awarded, the first center to receive this international recognition.

This distinction, awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to healthcare institutions, recognizes the excellence offered by nurses in their clinical practice in the care of patients and their families.

This favors the satisfaction of professionals, the improvement of patient care and experience, the continuous training and development of nursing based on the latest evidence and the creation of a space where nurses collaborate with different professionals committed to quality care for patients and their families.

Institutions with Magnet hospital status demonstrate an optimal environment for the development of nursing talent, a prestige that extends to all professionals in the organization and to the institution itself.

Magnet gives a nursing practice framework that guides us to excellence through evidence:

  • For nurses, it involves further training and development in their clinical practice, which leads to a more autonomous exercise of their practice.
  • For the patient, it means receiving the best possible care, performed by a nurse who receives all the institutional support to develop his or her full potential.
  • Generates opportunities for improvement in the organization.
  • Promotes teamwork and interprofessional dialogue to ensure patient-centered collaborative practice.
The Magnet Model provides a roadmap for advancing nursing excellence that blends seamlessly with the University of Navarra Clinic's nursing practice model.
