Toxic myoclonus

Several toxins produce encephalopathies in which myoclonus can be a prominent feature.
These include intoxications with bismuth, methyl bromide, cooking oil containing anilines, and tetraethyl lead. The clinical features in many cases resemble the action myoclonus syndrome of posthypoxic encephalopathy.
