The Fibroscan or Elastography
Hepatology
Cutting-edge technology
We continuously improve our technology, as we are clear that technology and research means new opportunities for our patients.
Transitional Elastography or FibroScan is a novel non-invasive diagnostic technology that improves the diagnosis and monitoring of liver fibrosis without the need for a biopsy.
It uses low-frequency vibration and ultrasound to measure liver elasticity, which is inversely related to the degree of liver fibrosis.
It is more accurate than a liver biopsy because it studies a volume of liver tissue 100 times larger.
However, they are complementary techniques, as the biopsy provides additional information on inflammatory activity and other histological data of importance in the diagnosis.
