The Clinic is the only hospital in Spain that has a neurosurgery room equipped with high-field (3 tesla) intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging.
As the skull is a closed bone structure, which only allows imaging studies with the cavity closed, the main advantage of the high field magnetic resonance is the acquisition of a high precision image during the surgery itself, with which the degree of the tumour is checked in real time.
This equipment will be most beneficial in the case of brain pathologies typical of neurosurgery. They will make it possible to know whether the surgical treatment has been as precise and effective as it should be.
